Call for Submissions
The Women's Writing Workshop will be publishing a series of themed creative nonfiction anthologies. Submissions are open to all women; participating in a workshop or joining the Facebook group are not required. The first theme is "Toxic Workplaces."
This series is intended to amplify women’s voices, but writers need not necessarily confront issues of gender, sexual harassment, patriarchy, etc. Essays may be politically conscious, but please avoid didactic writing and polemics. Successful pieces will include a strong, relatable voice, engaging narrative, and thoughtful reflection. Word length is somewhat open; accepted pieces thus far have ranged from 1,000 to 6,500 words.
Essays may not be generated in whole or in part by AI.
Single essays should be pasted into the body of an email, along with a brief bio, and sent to women.write.about@gmail.com by 8/30/24. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable as long as you withdraw your
piece immediately upon acceptance elsewhere.
Please be prepared to have your work edited, and to participate in the process professionally and politely.
Each accepted piece which had not been previously published will be compensated with copies of the print and electronic versions of the anthology in which it appears and $0.02/word. Previously published work will be considered, but won't receive cash compensation.
